Monthey Bike Park & Valais 2025 Project
Preparation of an international event with local impact.
Canton Valais will host the World Mountain Bike Championships in 2025. As a stakeholder in the event, the city of Monthey has chosen to host the pump track, a fast-growing discipline that fits in with its sports policy and its recent pro-bike developments: bike lanes, cyclosport trails, and a rethought city center in terms of shared mobility. City President Stéphane Coppey commented, “This internationally renowned event gives the city of Monthey the opportunity to plan the construction of a professional infrastructure that will last well beyond the event, benefiting professionals, amateurs, and even children.”
[…] Avesco Rent is proud to once again partner with VéloSolutions for this new BikePark. Our earthmoving and compaction machines are present and necessary for the completion of the entire project. Several excavators and compaction machines are being used on the site. At the time of our photo shoot, a new 100% electric Caterpillar mini-excavator was loaned to them to be tested under real conditions. After discussions with the site drivers, they were enthusiastic about our cooperation.
An environmentally friendly built site connected to the city center – More information about the project!
The Verney sports area has been redesigned in light of ecological urban planning and incorporates the concept of “nature in the city.” In the words of the city councillor for Infrastructure, Mobility and Environment, “the site is intended to be a new lung for the city. Connected to the city center by a greenway, the planned development prioritizes the planting of the area, which is intended to be an extension of the banks of the Rhone and the surrounding countryside. Special attention will be paid to local wildlife and soil permeability, with 75 percent of the site to be built with permeable materials and green spaces.
