PROVIDE A COMPLETE POWER SUPPLY AT A GREAT PRICE
The fourth season of Formula E was gradually drawing to a close, while the long-awaited ePrix in Zurich was scheduled for Sunday 10 June 2018.
A memorable race in several respects. First of all, it was the first car race on Swiss soil in 63 years. In fact, following a serious accident during the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1955, Switzerland banned all events on its territory. A special exemption from the Federal Council has enabled the city of Zurich to relaunch this sport in our country.
In addition, the setting in which the race took place pleased everyone: the lake and the Alps in the background, a route that starts from the port of Enge and reaches the city centre, passing through the business district and the harbour promenade. The approximately 160,000 spectators had reasons to rejoice.
This unique event of its kind required the adoption of every precaution so that nothing interfered with the show. For this reason, the organizers entrusted us with the demanding task of supporting everything that could be connected to the electricity grid so that no power failure could disturb the drivers, their teams, spectators and viewers.
For an electric race, powering the engine batteries is essential. Our Twin Pack equipped with two CAT 3412 (900 kVA) and C15-500 (500 kVA) generators generated the energy needed to guarantee the show. This emergency power solution was ready to step in, if necessary, to recharge the batteries of the electric race car engines.
Our mission also involved the grandstands, the lighting all around the circuit and the television production infrastructure that allowed 400,000 spectators to vibrate during this memorable race.
Throughout the race weekend, Avesco Energy Systems specialists were on duty as part of the on-call duty.
In addition, all generators in service during the project were equipped with environmentally friendly particulate filters. An element that fits perfectly with the spirit of this first Swiss Formula E race for which the sustainable aspect was of fundamental importance
