Building on our long-standing commitment to responsible sourcing, we welcome the new Swiss Supply Chain Act (DDSC), which requires due diligence and transparency regarding minerals and metals from conflict zones and child labour.

We are providing the following additional information on the DDSC:

With regard to minerals and metals from conflict zones

Avesco Rent AG does not procure ores and metals in the aforementioned characteristic which, according to the DDSC, would be subject to a reporting obligation. This is checked by the Purchasing department on the basis of the customs tariff numbers for the specific materials listed in the appendix to the DDSC.

Consequently, and in accordance with the Swiss Law of Obligations (LO), we are not subject to any duty of care or reporting obligation in this respect.

With regard to child labour

Duties of care relating to human rights and, in particular, child labour have always been part of supplier management. The basis of management is a code of conduct, which is an element of the General Conditions of Supply for Suppliers, which form an integral part of supplier contracts.

We have carried out a risk assessment based on the UNICEF children’s rights in the workplace index, with the following results:

We have no suppliers and we do not source any materials from critical countries (classification: “Heightened”). A large proportion of our suppliers or sourced materials come from countries with minimal exposure to the risk of child labour (classification: “Basic”). Materials sourced from some suppliers come from countries with an increased risk of child labour (classification: “Enhanced”).

With regard to these suppliers and the materials they supply, we have not recorded any suspicions or obtained any information about child labour. We update this control annually.
