LAUSANNE-PUIDOUX SFR LINE: AN EXCEPTIONAL PROJECT
SFR lines crossing Switzerland are regularly analyzed in order to identify routes for improvement. On this basis, the deadline for an intervention on the Lausanne – Puidoux-Chexbres line was set for summer 2018, resulting in a total closure of the tracks for 7 weeks.
The work carried out is enormous: ballast, rails, sleepers, infrastructure and drainage have been replaced. Furthermore, reclamation works were carried out on the Grandvaux and Puidoux-Chexbres tunnels and the secondary infrastructures.
In total, 5.4 kilometres of track were completely replaced.
The role of Avesco Rent
The experience of our employees as well as the reliability of our equipment have placed us as the main collaborator for the supply of the machines necessary for the construction of the site.
On behalf of the De Luca SA construction company, we supplied 104 machines for carrying out the work, including 17 loaders, 7 rollers, 10 dumpers and 2 bulldozers.
A project team dedicated to this project ensured logistical and technical coordination for the entire duration of the project. 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, our teams adapted equipment needs based on the progress of the work.
This intense project made it possible to carry out the equivalent of 8 months of work in 8 weeks if a railway track remained open to traffic.
A complete realization of a life base of the site
The permanent efforts required for this project were provided by around 600 locally mobilized workers. To facilitate the rotation of the teams that work 7 days a week, some of them were hosted in a base camp entirely designed and built by us.
Installed by our mobile construction team, this temporary living space allowed around sixty workers to rest and regain their strength. Office spaces were also integrated in order to allow the planning of interventions as well as the performance of various administrative tasks.
